SMKC: Singapore Math Kangaroo Contest
SMKC Overview
Mathematical Kangaroo (also known as International Mathematical Kangaroo and Kangourou sans frontières, the original French name) is an international mathematical competition with more than 95 countries. The key competence tested by the Kangaroo is logical combination, not just pure knowledge of formulas.
Math Kangaroo contest content is like Singapore’s Mathematics Curriculum. Problems require creativity, logical thinking and challenge students to look at problems from a different perspective.
The objectives of SMKC is to popularize mathematical enrichment activities among students and teachers in Singapore, and to allow students to achieve certification and recognition from an internationally prominent educational body. Students are then able to include the SMKC certificate in their portfolio to strengthen their application for top schools, universities and scholarships. It also exposes students to interesting math problems which are designed by internationally renowned math educators. Students can apply their knowledge in Mathematics that they learned in school in this competition.
Competition Format
The Contest is an individual multiple-choice test.

Each question scores 3 points in Section A, 4 points in Section B and 5 points in Section C. No points are deducted for unanswered question. 1 point is deducted for the wrong answer.
